With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Aliza is a dynamic leader in our Centre for Diverse Learning department. Aliza joined AHS over 10years ago following a thriving career as a Psychotherapist. Her passion always centred around children with a special interest in childhood depression, ADHD, and behavioural challenges. To further continue her love of learning, Aliza achieved a specialized certificate in Special Education, and continues learning and growing professionally.
For the past 11 years, Aliza has held various roles at AHS both in teaching, resource support, and school wide leadership, with one goal in mind; student centred learning that leads to growth and individual student success. Aliza believes that students' social-emotional well-being should always be at the forefront of teaching and learning. She is empathetic to every student's individual needs, every teacher's struggle, and to the community at large.
In her role as Centre for Diverse Learning Coordinator for the past six years, Aliza conducts educational assessments, provides social-emotional support to students, creates individualized education plans, prepares students for transitions both to middle school and to high school, collaborates with parents and out-of-school professionals, and works closely with teachers to ensure each students’ learning needs are met. She is a driving force in advocating for Jewish education, creating a positive school culture, and a love for learning.
When she is not at school, Aliza enjoys spending time with her three teenagers and husband, travelling to warm destinations, visiting her home in Israel, reading, hiking, and cooking.
